How to change the name associated with your Microsoft account in Windows 11

  1. Click on the Start menu icon in the taskbar.
  2. Click on the Settings icon (gear-shaped) on the left side of the Start menu.
  3. In the Settings window, click on the “Accounts” option.
  4. On the “Accounts” screen, click on the “Your info” option.
  5. Under “Your info,” you should see your name and email address associated with your Microsoft account. Click on the “Manage my Microsoft account” link.
  6. This will open the Microsoft account page in your default web browser. Sign in with your Microsoft account credentials if prompted.
  7. On the Microsoft account page, you should see your name at the top of the screen. Click on the “Edit name” link next to your name.
  8. Enter the new name you want to use and click the “Save” button.
  9. Return to the Windows 11 “Your info” page by clicking the back button in your browser or using the Alt + Left Arrow keyboard shortcut.
  10. Return to the Windows 11 “Your info” page by clicking the back button in your browser or using the Alt + Left Arrow keyboard shortcut.

Note: If you’re using a local account in Windows 11, you can change the account name by going to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users, clicking on your account, and then clicking the “Rename” button.
